African Medical Mission has been recognized over the years for the work that has been accomplished. Former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Nelson Mandela have both formally recognized the work of AMM.

Dr. Chris McConnachie was awarded with the 2002 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons International Humanitarian Award.

Jenny McConnachie was honored in 2006 with the Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Award.

Chris and Jenny McConnachie are recipients of the "Order of the British Empirie, 2006", as Officers of the Order.
